WordMaster does not require account registration. We do not collect personal identifying information such as your name, email, or address during gameplay.
We use Google Analytics 4 to collect anonymized usage data (pages visited, session duration, device type, general geographic region) to help us understand how the game is used and improve it over time. This data does not personally identify you.
When you submit the contact form, you voluntarily provide your name and email address. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not stored on our servers beyond the email delivery.
We use browser localStorage to store your game statistics (games played, win streak, guess distribution) locally on your device. This data never leaves your browser and is never sent to our servers.
We use a session cookie to remember your language preference (English or Korean). This cookie contains no personal data and expires when you close your browser.
The third-party analytics service we use (Google Analytics) may set its own cookies. You can manage or opt out of these cookies via your browser settings.
This website does not currently display third-party advertising. The site is free to use, and we use only Google Analytics for anonymous usage measurement (see section 2 above).
If we introduce advertising on the website in the future, we will update this policy and explain the ad provider and how to opt out of personalized ads.
The Android app does show ads. See section 4 below.
This section applies to Word Master: Daily Word Puzzle (com.tileworksstudio.wordmaster), distributed on Google Play. Like the website, the app requires no account and collects no personally identifying information such as your name, email, or address.
Data stored on your device
Game statistics, your learned-word list, notification preferences, and theme settings are kept in the app's local storage. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to our servers. Uninstalling the app deletes it.
Advertising (Google AdMob)
The app shows banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads through Google AdMob. To serve and cap ads and measure their performance, AdMob may process device identifiers including your Advertising ID. We restrict ad content to the "G" (Everyone) rating.
Users in the European Economic Area and the UK are shown a consent form (Google UMP) on first launch, and personalized advertising depends on that choice. Everywhere else, you can delete your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalization in Android Settings β Privacy β Ads.
Analytics (Firebase Analytics)
The app uses Google Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage events (screen views, game starts and completions) so we can improve it. These events do not identify you personally.
Notifications
Notifications are used only if you turn them on, and they are local reminders scheduled on your device β they are not delivered through a push server. You can turn them off at any time in the app or in Android settings.
Word definition lookups
When you use a hint to see a word's meaning, only that English word is sent to a public dictionary API (api.dictionaryapi.dev). No personal data is sent.
Beyond the above, the app does not access contacts, location, photos, files, or any other device data.
Game statistics stored in your browser's localStorage remain until you clear your browser data. We do not retain any personal data on our servers. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months per Google's default settings.
Our blog and game pages may contain links to external websites (e.g., BBC News for the News Word Challenge). We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We recommend reading their privacy policies before providing any personal information.
WordMaster is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us immediately so we can delete it.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under GDPR (EU), CCPA (California), or other privacy laws to access, correct, or delete data we hold about you. Since we collect minimal personal data and store game statistics only in your own browser, most of these rights can be exercised directly by clearing your browser data. For any other requests, contact us below.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of WordMaster after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
